“when i go out on a hunting spree,
i get the feeling someone’s stalking me.” - pinup of the month, march.
One of the comments I received on my recent survey was a request for circle skirt styling options for “those of us who are a bit naff with styling”.
Adorable.
Sadly I’m not particularly innovative when it comes to styling, either, which was one of the really enjoyable parts of that circle skirt styling competition - seeing the different ways people would style their skirts. I tend to go for the old skirt, petti and cardi with a wide cinching belt, time and time again. But I did some hunting, and here’s some different options.
1. Make it casual with a tee. Or singlet. Maybe a band tee? I can see a polka dot skirt in navy looking fabulous with a striped singlet at the beach.
2. Casual smart with a crisp white blouse or shirt. Thanks to prettygirlglam.tumblr.com for this one! I’ve got a plain cotton sateen skirt in aqua waiting to be paired with a white blouse I’ve just ordered from Dorothy Perkins. I’ll be wearing it with high aqua platforms and skin-toned tights.
3. Winter layers: this is my Melbourne winter uniform. Tights, petticoat (or 2 for extra volume), long sleeved shirt and cardigan over the top, skirt. Thick scarves or pashminas for an extra layer of warmth.
4. velvettulip.tumblr.com put together this fabulous ‘day time’ look - I loved this because it’s so entirely different from anything I’d have thought up. Denim! Wedges! Hat! Great for a day out with friends, or college/uni?
5. Something of a pinup babe evening look, like aonaibhricheile.tumblr.com.
6. With wear plain black top, expensive handbag, red lips and large glasses, as if you’re a fancy pants fetish, pinup and burlesque star.
